Founder Béatrice Amblard started Amblard Leather Atelier in 2012 as a way to keep the dying art of refined leather working alive. It is the only place where you can learn the centuries-old craft of refined leather working. The program teaches the basic understanding of leatherworking using traditional hand tools.
The first 9 months of the 12-month program focuses on the ins and outs of working with leather exclusively by hand. The last 3 months is an introduction to using machinery with the handwork the student has mastered. Amblard Leather Atelier's program consists of predetermined projects done at the student’s own pace. The amount of pieces created by the end of each session will depend solely on the individual.
